In a bid to enhance the effectiveness of its state counsel, the Kano State Government has distributed volumes of essential laws governing the prosecution of criminal and civil cases in courts of law.
The distribution of the laws, which took place during the closing of the 3-day induction training of 70 new state counsel, is aimed at equipping the counsel with the necessary knowledge and skills to prosecute cases effectively.
The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Barr. Haruna Isah Dederi disclosed that the laws distributed include the Criminal Code, Penal Code, Evidence Act, and other relevant statutes governing criminal and civil proceedings in Nigeria.
The Attorney General who represented at the closing of the induction training by the Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary Barr. Mustapha Nurradden Muhammad Commended the Kano State Government’s efforts to provide its state counsel with the necessary tools and resources to demonstrate its commitment to promoting justice and upholding the rule of law in the state.
The Solicitor General said with the provision of these essential laws, the state counsel will be better equipped to handle cases and ensure that justice is served.
Barr. Mustapha Muhammad Commended Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf for his Commitment to reforming the Justice sector, Adding that in his over 30 years in the Ministry, he never had any occasion whereby the Counsel was given essential working materials.
He charged the New Counsel to repay the gesture by showing Their Commitment as the Ministry will not condone Laxity and failure.
