The Kano State Government is set to partner with the Kano Solar Dealers Association in a renewed effort to clamp down on the circulation and sale of substandard solar products across the state.

Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad Ammsad, the Chairman of Kano Solar Dealers Association, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the managing director of Sabon Gari Market Management Board, Alhaji Abdul Bashir Hussien,  During the visit, Alhaji Ammsad expressed deep concerns over the alarming rate which certain traders within their ranks are engaging in fraudulent practices—selling fake and low-quality solar products, such as batteries, inverters, panels, and more.

He cited specific instances where unscrupulous dealers purchase 200-mega wards solar batteries and rebrand them as 400-mega wards products in order to deceive customers,

He emphasized that such practices are harmful to the reputation of legitimate dealers and pose serious risks to consumers.

Alhaji Ammsad appealed to the market management board to provide the necessary support to rid the market of such dishonest traders,

He further called on the Kano State Government, known for fairness and justice, to impose strict penalties on any individual or group found guilty of importing or selling substandard or falsely labeled solar products.

IN his response, Alhaji Abdul Bashir Hussien, Managing director of  Sabon Gari Market Management Board, expressed satisfaction with the association’s visit and acknowledged the importance of their concerns,

He emphasized that every member of the association must be properly registered and identifiable.

He pledged his full support to the association and encouraged them to document all their grievances in writing,he said this would enable his office to seek collaboration with relevant government agencies, including the Ministry of Public Procurement, to effectively tackle the issue of fraudulent trade practices.

Alhaji Bashir concluded by reaffirming Kano’s role as a hub for commerce and trade, welcoming all genuine businesses while stating clearly that unscrupulous traders will not be allowed to tarnish the integrity of Kano’s markets.
