Fire Prevention Awareness Campaign Held at Sabon Gari Market in Collaboration with KNSG Fire Service Command

Sabon Gari market continued it’s effort to safeguard lives and property, the Managing Director of Muhammad Abubakar Rimi Singa and Galadima Market Board, Alhaji Abdul Bashir Hussien, led a fire prevention sensitization exercise at the Sabon Gari Market in collaboration with the Kano State Government (KNSG) Fire Service Command.

During the awareness campaign, Alhaji Abdul Bashir moved around the market engaging with business owners and traders on the importance of fire safety and proactive measures to prevent disasters. He emphasized the dangers of congestion within the market, stating from overcrowded stealng and blocked access roards which could lead to severe delays in emergency response during fire incidents.

He appreciated the visit by the Kano State Fire Service Commandant, Alhaji Sani Anas, and commended the current state of fire safety measures within Sabon Gari Market, particularly in the “Big Line” area. Alhaji Bashir noted that fire extinguishers have been strategically placed throughout the market, maintenance work on fire service trucks and the water supply system has been ongoing at the market’s fire service branch.

He also urged all traders and business owners to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations set by the market board to ensure a safer and more conducive environment for daily business activities. He concluded by expressing gratitude to the Fire Service Commandant for his meaningful visit and support.

In his remarks, Commandant Alhaji Sani Anas praised the leadership of the market board for its commitment to safety, However, he expressed concern over the lack of accessible pathways in some parts of the market, making it difficult even for emergency responders to navigate. “In certain areas, not even a wheelbarrow can pass,” he said, highlighting the need for improved access roards.

He urged the Managing Director and the market board to continue supporting fire safety initiatives and to assist the fire service in addressing minor operational challenges. Commandant Anas also thanked the staff of the Sabon Gari Fire Service Branch and extended his appreciation to the entire management team of the Muhammad Abubakar Rimi Singa and Galadima Market Board, especially Alhaji Abdul Bashir Hussien, for their dedication to fire safety.
