I feel truly blessed and honored to have presented a paper titled “Through the Lens of Leadership: Harnessing Photography for Sustainable Development and Global Impact” at the historic World Photography Day Conference.
It was hosted by the Kano Visual Artists Association (KAVAAS) in collaboration with Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN).
Standing before a diverse international audience at the magnificent Abubakar Adamu Rasheed Twin Theatre, I was deeply humbled to share reflections on how photography is not just an art, but a sacred mission of truth, memory, and humanity’s collective journey.
From Warsaw to Kano, voices came together, academics, media experts, journalists, photographers, and students, all united in celebrating the divine gift of photography: a tool to educate, advocate, preserve culture, and inspire global change.
My presentation was a heartfelt call for us to see leadership through the lens, to use images as instruments of peace, justice, and sustainable development.
To every photographer, your lens is more than glass and light, it is a mirror of the soul and a bridge between generations. Treat it with patience, creativity, and reverence. Keep capturing not just images, but eternal truths that outlive us all.
