The Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, presided over a special Iftar dinner with over three hundred repentant political youth influencers, which was organized by the Kano State Government at the Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs, on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
Hon. Waiya said, “This is a historic event organized under the directive of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, who is committed to transforming the lives of Kano indigenes, especially the youth. This is why we invited those who decided to embrace peace and surrendered their weapons under the ‘Safe Corridor Project.'”
“The project, which is a non-kinetic approach initiated by the Kano State Governor, is designed to engage the repentant political youth influencers, with a view to empower them to become productive members of the society.”
According to him, “We decided to organize this Iftar with them to provide an opportunity for them to have a sense of belonging and feel that they are equally part of the society. We also implored them to know that they are an important and integral part of the community, and their contribution in building a better Kano, is also needed
“Our hope is to change their mindset, secure their future, and encourage them to contribute to the development of our society,” he stated.
“The policy of our government is to build the lives of our younger generation and transform the political system of the state into development driven and politically responsible society where political thuggery is eliminated completely to promote peace and unity among the people.”
“We pray that this project will be the first of its kind, one that our government will be proud of, by the grace of Almighty God,” he added.
Responding to questions from journalists, one of the attendees from Dala Local Government Area said, “Seriously, I am happy because of the love and concern shown to us by the Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf. We have already surrendered our weapons and embraced peace, and we are ready to cooperate for the development of this project.”

We ate and drank, and I have to thank Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and salute the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, who is always trying to support us in changing our lives. Look at what is happening today communities that once fought are now meeting together. Of course, this is a welcome development, and we pray that it will be sustained.”
