Project Monitoring Committee Concludes Work Across 44 Local Gov Areas

The Executive Council Committee on Project Monitoring established by His Excellency Engr Abba Kabir Yusuf, Executive Governor of Kano State to assess and inspect the ongoing construction of Kwankwasiyya Gida-Gida Block of classrooms across the 44 local governments has completed the monitoring exercise.

The committee under the leadership of the Honorable Commissioner Ministry for Public Procurement Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Kano Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila set to prepare a report about the exercise and submit to His Excellency Engr Abba Kabir Yusuf at next coming State Executive Council meeting.

Yesterday, the committee went round the remaining six local government areas. The tour visited GSS Bebeji, Hayin Nayaya Special Primary School, Chiromawa, Garun Malam and Sumakai Science and Maths Primary School, Kura local government

Other schools inspected yesterday were Bunkure Gabas Special Primary School, Bunkure, GSS Ma’aji Ali Rano, Rano and Kibiya Model Primary School, Kibiya local government

Briefing the press at the final round of the tour, the chairman of the committee emphasized that the committee without compromise will prepare a report and table it before His Excellency Engr Abba Kabir Yusuf

“This committee comprised six members. The committee includes Gwani Ali Haruna Makoda, Hon Commissioner Ministry of Education, Comrade Ibrahim Waiya, Honorable Commissioner Ministry of Information, Engr Marwan Ahmad, Honorable Commissioner Ministry for Works and Housing, Alh Nasiru Sule Garo, Honorable Commissioner Ministry for Special Duties, Alh Habibu Sale Mai Lemu, chairman Kano PRO-PA Association and I myself as the chairman.”

“At the starting point, we developed Term of Reference and came up with modalities about its work. Alhamdulillah, as you bear witness, we toured the 44 local governments and today we concluded with the Kibiya local government.”

“This committee employed an Integrity Test Measurement, with a team of engineers and experts, we evaluated every structure, brought before you the name of contractors, money allocated and the percentage of work done at each project site.”

The Hon Commissioner added that some places were at 0%, 20%, 50%, 95% and even 100% waiting for handover.”

According to the Honorable Commissioner the committee report will be based on the Integrity Test Assessment of the team of engineers and finally make recommendations for the government to take appropriate action.

Muhammad S. Kutama, Director Special Assignment, Ministry for Special Duties represented Honorable Commissioner Ministry for Special Duties at the final round of the tour. He expressed a feeling of appreciation and attributed success recorded by the committee to the chairmanship of the Honorable Commissioner, Comrade Ma’aji Sumaila. He then thanked the Honorable Commissioner for carrying everyone along during the monitoring tour.

Alh Habibu Sale Mai Lemu, chairman Kano PRO-PA Association said that His Excellency Engr Abba Kabir Yusuf deserves commendation for his concern on education and educational infrastructure
