AN URGENT CALL FOR ACTION ON IMPROVED ELECTRICITY SUPPLY IN KANO STATE
I write to you today with deep concern as a citizen and a representative voice of the people of Kano State. Sir, there is no doubt about the current heatwave sweeping through our state and has reached extreme and unbearable levels.
The excessive heat is not just an inconvenience, it poses a significant threat to public health and general well-being,particularly for the most vulnerable among us, like the elderly, children, and those with existing medical conditions especially we with spinal cord injury disability.
One of the most pressing challenges faced during this period is the erratic and grossly inadequate electricity supply, which deprives residents of the ability to use fans, air conditioning units, or even access safe storage for food and medicines.
With the temperature soaring well above safe levels, there is a growing fear of heat-related illnesses, including dehydration, heatstroke, meningitis and the worsening of pre-existing conditions like the spinal cord injuries.
Your Excellency, now is the time to take decisive and proactive action. It is far better and far more cost-effective for His Excellency to invest in prevention than to be overwhelmed by the cost of treating widespread health issues after an outbreak.
With heartfelt respect I therefore humbly and urgently call on His Excellency to do whatever it takes to increase the electricity supply to Kano State, whether by engaging federal authorities, KEDCO, investing in alternative energy solutions, or supporting local infrastructure improvements in Kano.
The people of Kano are resilient, but resilience should not come at the cost of preventable suffering. As a Governor with listing ears and concern for the masses I trust in your leadership and commitment to the welfare of all residents of this great state.
I hope this write up will reach His Excellency and look forward to swift and positive response.
With utmost respect,
Engr Abdul Haruna.
Concerned Citizen from Kano.
