The Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has emphasized the need for cultural unity and collaboration between the military and citizens.

The Commissioner made this remark during an interview with journalists at the West African Social Activities (WASA) event hosted by the Commander of the 3 Brigade Infantry, Nigerian Army, at the prestigious Bukavu Barracks, Kano.

The event, renowned for celebrating the rich cultural heritage of West Africa, brought together military personnel, community leaders, and dignitaries in a vibrant display of unity and tradition.

Comrade Waiya commended the Nigerian Army for organizing an event that highlights the region’s cultural diversity and fosters communal harmony.

He underscored the significance of cultural events in strengthening the bond between the military and the civilian population.

“It is inspiring to see initiatives like this that celebrate our shared heritage while bridging the gap between our soldiers and the communities they protect. These events remind us of the strength in our diversity and the importance of nurturing it for a brighter future,” he stated.

The Commissioner also urged the Ministry of Culture, Arts, and Tourism to increase support for similar initiatives, emphasizing their potential to promote peace, unity, and cultural appreciation.

“Our soldiers play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and stability of our communities. Events like WASA provide an opportunity to express our gratitude while fostering mutual respect and understanding,” he added.

Comrade Waiya expressed optimism that through collaboration and shared cultural experiences, the continent could achieve a more cohesive and harmonious society.

He concluded by assuring the Kano State government’s continued support for the military in strengthening existing cordial relationships. He also prayed for enduring peace and unity in Nigeria and across Africa.
