In an effort to promote business growth in the state, on March 4, 2025, the Kano State government had announced an extension of the market closing time. Of Sabon Gari, Singa, and Galadima market, which will now close at 6:30 PM instead of the previous 6:00 PM.
This announcement was made by the Managing director of the Markets Management board, Alhaji Abdul Bashir Hussien, at his office during a press briefing.
Abdul Bashir explained that the extension is due to the upcoming RAMADAN season. He noted that, the extended hours will accommodate the increase in trading activities, as people prepare for the holy month and purchase items needed for Ramadan.
He further emphasized that, residents of Kano and neighboring states visit these markets to shop for the Sallah celebrations. He urged traders to cooperate with their employees to ensure the safety of their goods and that of the customers.
Finally, he expressed his gratitude to the traders for their continued collaboration with the Kano State government and under the leadership of Executive Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf.
