The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has confirmed the successful registration of 3,611 intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj exercise ahead of the closure of remittance by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
The Director General of the Board, Alhaji Lamin Rabi’u Danbappa, disclosed this on Sunday during the flag-off of the weekly Hajj induction and enlightenment programme (Bita) in Kano.
Danbappa confirmed that the Board has fully remitted over N23.645 million to NAHCON, covering the complete Hajj fare for all registered pilgrims. He stressed that Kano State has no outstanding financial obligations to the Commission, describing the exercise as a demonstration of fiscal discipline and operational efficiency.
According to him, the remitted funds cover critical Hajj logistics, including accommodation in Makkah, Madinah and the Mashair, feeding, local transportation in Saudi Arabia, as well as round-trip air tickets for the pilgrims.
He further revealed that NAHCON has designated Max Air as the approved carrier for the airlift of Kano State pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj, assuring intending pilgrims of seamless coordination and timely deployment in line with the national Hajj timetable.
Danbappa reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to early preparation, transparency and effective pilgrim welfare management, noting that proactive planning remains key to a successful Hajj operation.
