KANO POLICE
The Kano State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its sustained efforts to combat armed robbery and other violent crimes across the state.
According to a statement issued by the Command on October 6, 2026, a report was received from one Nasiru Ibrahim, who alleged that some unidentified persons chartered his tricycle from Hotoro Quarters in Kano to Yar Gaya, Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area, along the Kano–Maiduguri Highway, for an agreed fare of N8,000.
The Command said that while they were en route, the suspects reportedly brought out locally made firearms, threatened the victim at gunpoint and robbed him of his tricycle.
The suspects allegedly took him into a nearby bush, where they kept him to prevent him from raising an alarm, before fleeing with the tricycle to an unknown destination.
Following the report, the Command said that, under the direction of the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, SFIPMA, MNIM, MNIPS, MASIS, sustained follow-up and intelligence-led operations were launched to track down the suspects and recover the stolen property.
The Police said officers attached to Filin Hockey Division, Kano, on October 3, 2026, at about 1:30pm, traced and recovered the stolen tricycle at Wudil Local Government Area along the Kano–Maiduguri Highway.
Two suspects were subsequently arrested in connection with the robbery.
The suspects were identified as Abubakar Isah, 27, and Shehu Ibrahim, 25, both of Zogarawa Village, Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area of Kano State.
The Police said one stolen tricycle and two locally made firearms were recovered from the suspects, adding that they confessed to the crime during investigation.
The Commissioner of Police commended the officers involved for their commitment and professionalism, while appreciating the people of Kano State for their prayers, support and cooperation.
The Command has also appealed to members of the public, particularly anyone who may have fallen victim to similar tricycle robberies along the Kano–Maiduguri Highway, especially the Hotoro–Dawakin Kudu–Wudil axis, to come forward.
Victims or members of the public with relevant information are advised to visit Filin Hockey Police Division or contact the Investigation Police Officer on 08107292007.
The Police said the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
