As Ramadan approaches, concerns have been raised about the welfare of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Kano State.
A passionate advocate for PWDs seek Governor Yusuf’s support for initiatives that promote inclusivity and social inclusion.
The advocate highlights the struggles PWDs face in accessing basic resources, including food and essential commodities, during Ramadan.
The Group urges Gov Yusuf to consider by allocating the resources to the ongoing government Programs with PWDs aim to provide food, basic necessities, medical supplies, and economic empowerment opportunities to PWDs across the 44 local governments in Kano State.
According to them, the initiative seeks to foster greater social inclusion and promote the well-being of PWDs during Ramadan.
Furthermore, The delegation advocate special advantage in to mass wedding initiative ceremony for eligible PWDs after the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations. “This initiative aims to promote social inclusion, gender equality, and the rights of PWDs to participate in all aspects of life” By enabling young PWDs to marry, the initiative seeks to break down barriers that often marginalize them and promote community support and recognition of their rights to family life.
The mass wedding initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of PWDs, promoting social inclusion, and community recognition of their rights. Similar initiatives have been implemented in the past, such as the Kano Mass Wedding, which aimed to address social problems, including the burden of wedding expenses on parents and the stigma associated with divorce.
The Kano State Government has been urged to allocate resources, provide logistical support, and facilitate collaboration with relevant organizations to implement these initiatives successfully.
With the government’s support, PWDs in Kano State can look forward to a more inclusive and supportive environment.
As the Holy Month of Ramadan approaches, it is essential to prioritize the welfare and well-being of all citizens, including PWDs.
According to the communique, these initiatives will demonstrate its commitment to social inclusion, equality, and the well-being of all citizens.
