The Emir of Gaya, His Royal Highness, Alh Aliyu Ibrahim Gaya has sent his condolences to Kano State Governor, His Excellency Alh Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Government and the entire people of the state over the tragic death of 22 Kano State Athletes who died in a fatal accident on Dakatsalle bridge .
The athletes were on their way back home after successfully participating in the National Sports Festival held in Ogun state.
A statement from the Gaya Emirate Council expressed his Royal Highness’s deepest sympathy over the loss of these greatest assets of Kano who went to the festival to make Kano state proud by bringing Medals for sports events they participated in and won.
Dr Aliyu Ibrahim Gaya who described sports as an effective tool for unity and National integration said the late athletes were in Ogun as Kano state’s best ambassadors.
The Emir said those heroes would be best remembered as patriots whose sacrifices would continue to linger in our memories.
He therefore urged the bereaved athletes family to take solace in the fact that death is a necessary end to every human being.
Dr Aliyu Ibrahim Gaya further prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased and may Jannatul Firdaus be their final abode.
The Emir commended Kano State Governor, Alh Abba Kabir Yusuf for giving temporary and immediate relief to the families of the fallen athletes by donating one million naira cash to each of deceased families.
