*KANO, NIGERIA* – January 17, 2025 – The Coalition of Disability Self Advocacy Network (CDSAN) has congratulated His Excellency, Gov. Yusuf, on his 62nd birthday, praising his outstanding achievements in key areas of development.
In a statement signed by Engr. Abdul Haruna moi, coh, Secretary of CDSAN, the network commended Gov. Yusuf’s leadership, which has brought about significant progress in education, health, food security, infrastructure, and women’s development.
According to him, The state government achieved a significant landmark, praise the current administration for reintroducing a monthly empowerment program, which provides N50,000 to support women across 44 local governments, has been particularly impactful.
However, CDSAN also used the opportunity to bring to the governor’s attention the plight of people with disabilities (PWDs) in the state.
“Your Excellency, your compassionate leadership has already touched almost the live of so many, by including as many as possible PWDs in this empowerment program, it will further solidify the legacy as a leader who champion equality, inclusivity and the one who stop PWDs from street begging” Haruna added
The organization urged Gov. Yusuf to extend his empowerment programs to PWDs, emphasizing that this would go a long way in addressing the unique challenges they face, especially in the current economic climate.
CDSAN’s congratulatory message is a testament to Gov. Yusuf’s commitment to inclusive development and his efforts to improve the lives of all citizens, including those with disabilities. As the governor celebrates this milestone birthday, CDSAN’s message serves as a reminder of the importance of continuing to prioritize the needs of PWDs in the state’s development agenda.
