The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) has embarked on an inspection tour of major development projects being executed by the Kano State Government under the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The inspection tour was led by the Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, and provided senior editors from across Nigeria with an opportunity to assess the projects firsthand and gain a better understanding of their objectives, scope and expected impact on the people of the state.
The delegation first inspected an ongoing housing project being implemented by the Kano State Government as part of efforts to provide decent accommodation, improve living conditions and address the housing needs of residents.
The editors thereafter proceeded to Gaya, where they paid a courtesy visit to the palace of the Emir of Gaya, His Royal Highness Alhaji Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir.
The visit provided an opportunity for members of the Guild to pay respect to the traditional institution and acknowledge its role in promoting peace, stability and community development.
The inspection tour continued at Tal’udu, where the delegation inspected the ongoing flyover project. The project is designed to improve transportation, ease traffic congestion and enhance the movement of residents and commuters within the area and adjoining communities.
The final stop was Northwest University, Kano, where the NGE delegation inspected ongoing projects and facilities aimed at improving the learning environment and strengthening educational infrastructure for students and staff.
During the tour, the editors interacted with relevant government officials, asked questions and obtained firsthand information about the projects and their implementation.
The engagement also highlighted the importance of maintaining a strong and transparent relationship between government and the media, particularly in ensuring that members of the public receive accurate, balanced and credible information about government policies, programmes and development initiatives.
The Kano State Government maintains that development should be visible, impactful and ultimately focused on improving the lives and well-being of the people.
