As Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf marks three years in office, stakeholders and residents across Kano State have continued to reflect on what many describe as a period of transformative leadership, people-oriented governance, and strategic interventions aimed at improving the lives of citizens.
Since assuming office in 2023, the governor has pursued policies and programmes aimed at addressing key challenges facing the state, with interventions spanning education, healthcare, infrastructure, youth and women empowerment, social welfare, agriculture, and support for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).
Observers say the administration’s focus on improving the living standards of ordinary citizens has earned it growing public recognition.
The government has also recorded notable strides in the rehabilitation and construction of public infrastructure, expansion of educational opportunities, and implementation of social intervention programmes targeted at vulnerable groups. These efforts, according to residents, have contributed to strengthening public confidence in governance while promoting economic activities and inclusive development across the state.
Many supporters attribute the administration’s popularity to Governor Yusuf’s accessibility and commitment to fulfilling campaign promises. They argue that his leadership style has reinforced the belief that government can serve as a catalyst for positive change, social justice, and sustainable development. Speaking on the governor’s three-year anniversary, Engr. Abdul Haruna, a concerned citizen and advocate for Persons With Disabilities, commended the administration for its efforts in advancing development and improving the welfare of residents. He noted that while challenges remain, the achievements recorded so far provide a solid foundation for greater progress in the years ahead.
According to him, the phrase frequently echoed by many Kano residents — “Abba Ka Cika Gwarzo, Komai Ake Bukata Kayi” — reflects the appreciation and optimism of citizens who believe the state is on a path toward greater prosperity under the current administration.
According to him, “Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has demonstrated that leadership is about serving the people and responding to their aspirations. His commitment to inclusive development and social welfare has positively impacted many lives across Kano State.”
While acknowledging that challenges remain, Haruna expressed optimism that the administration’s ongoing reforms and development initiatives would further accelerate the state’s progress.
As Kano State looks ahead, many citizens believe that the achievements recorded over the past three years have positioned the state on a path toward greater prosperity, inclusiveness, and sustainable development.
