President Bola Tinubu has sent heartfelt congratulations to elder statesman and renowned professor of Mathematics, Prof Iya Abubakar, on the occasion of his 90th birthday.
The educationist and one-time vice chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria was Minister of Defence in the Second Republic. He also served as Senator representing Adamawa North between 1999 and 2007.
President Tinubu commends Senator Abubakar for his services to his fatherland at different times in his career, acknowledging his achievements in the academia where he made foundational contributions to the fields of Mathematics and Computer Science.
Prof Abubakar has maintained a dignified life in retirement, resorting to mentorship and counselling of the younger ones and those seeking his wisdom and experience.
President Tinubu prays to God to grant the former senator robust health so he can continue to render useful services to the nation.
