The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) has sealed 797 premises, including pharmacies, patent medicine shops and illegal drug outlets across Kano State.
The enforcement operation lasted four days, during which the agency inspected 1,153 premises across 28 local government areas.
The sealed premises included 8 pharmacies, 352 patent medicine shops and 437 illegal drug outlets operating without the required approval.
The PCN also shut down the Dalan-Gyada drug market along Katsina Road, citing concerns over the safety, quality and regulatory status of medicines being sold there.
The agency said some of the outlets were operating without registration, while others were selling medicines outside the categories permitted under their licences.
The PCN urged members of the public to purchase medicines only from licensed and approved outlets.
