To: Hon. Garba Ibrahim Diso
Member, House of Representatives
Gwale Local Government Area, Kano State
Sir,
We, the concerned people of Gwale, write to express our deep disappointment and frustration over your performance as our elected representative. You were chosen to serve our interests, address our concerns, and work tirelessly for the betterment of our community. Unfortunately, your actions — or lack thereof — have fallen short of our expectations.
Health Behind Bars: How Kano Is Extending Health Insurance Coverage to Inmates
We recall the last election, when you came to us with outstretched hands, seeking our votes. You promised to be our champion, to listen to our grievances, and to work for our progress. We believed in you and entrusted you with our mandate.
However, since then, what tangible progress have we seen? Over five months ago, residents of Hausawa Gwale, under the Filin D.O. Transformer, suffered a power outage that plunged the area into darkness. Despite numerous pleas, the damaged transformer remains unrepaired, leaving our homes, businesses, and schools without electricity. This is unacceptable.
Your silence and inaction have become glaring reminders of your absence. You have failed to engage with us, to listen to our challenges, or to provide meaningful solutions. Your constituents continue to suffer while you remain invisible.
We also recall the meeting held with you when you expressed your desire to seek re-election in 2023. During that meeting, we presented our challenges, and you assured us that you would address them, work harder, and make a difference. You appealed for our support, and we gave it to you once again. Yet, nothing has changed.
We are aware of the allocations made to your office for constituency projects. We know how much is earmarked for the development of our community, as well as the various funds and resources accessible to you as the representative of Gwale Local Government — and even as the head of an important committee. We are not ignorant; we read, follow the news, and monitor how public funds are managed.
In light of this, we are no longer merely asking you to repair the damaged transformer — we demand that you provide a new one. We know you have the capacity and the resources to do so. Excuses are no longer acceptable.
Meanwhile, other representatives — such as those from Kano Municipal and Bichi — are making visible progress in their constituencies. They are fixing roads, providing amenities, offering fully funded scholarships with monthly stipends for students in local and foreign universities, creating employment opportunities, and actively advocating for their people in the House of Representatives. Why can’t you do the same?
We urge you to reflect on your performance and ask yourself: Are you truly representing the people of Gwale? If not, we demand that you resign honorably. Your continued inaction only deepens the disappointment and betrays the trust we placed in you.
Let it be clear: if you cannot perform the duties entrusted to you, it is time to step aside. The people of Gwale will no longer be taken for granted. And should you fail to resign, preparations are already underway to pass a vote of no confidence and initiate a recall process to replace you with a more capable representative who will serve our interests faithfully.
We await your response and immediate action.
Sincerely,
Hamisu Isyaku Ibrahim Hausawa
