Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Your Excellency,
I extend my warm regards and sincere respect. I am writing as a concerned citizen and as someone who deeply values peace, progress, and the collective prosperity of Kano State and its people.
First and foremost, I commend your administration for the visible achievements across critical sectors of governance. Your commitment to education reform, youth empowerment, healthcare revival, infrastructure rehabilitation, and social welfare programmes has rekindled hope in millions of families and strengthened the foundation of our dear state. These efforts continue to demonstrate genuine leadership and dedication to public service.
However, Your Excellency, while we celebrate these successes, I humbly wish to draw attention to a matter of utmost urgency — security, particularly along the border communities of Kano State that share boundaries with neighbouring states.
In recent days, concerned reports have emerged of armed bandit infiltration into border villages, resulting in the loss of innocent lives. Although the swift response and intervention by the Nigerian Army and security agencies helped avert further tragedy, it is a matter that requires proactive and sustained attention.
Security is the backbone of development. Without peace, our progress across other sectors may be undermined.
We are fully aware of your commitment to strengthening security across Kano and its surrounding communities, and we trust in the efforts already being made. However, in the spirit of partnership and collective responsibility, I humbly offer the following contributions and suggestions.
Recommendations for Consideration
With humility and patriotism, I suggest the following strategic actions:
(1) Strengthen Joint Border Security Task Forces
Collaborate closely with Katsina and others, and federal security agencies for coordinated patrols, intelligence sharing, and surveillance across rural border communities.
(2) Establish Community-Based Security Intelligence Networks
Engage traditional rulers, local vigilantes, youth structures, and community leaders to provide early warning signals and local intelligence support.
(3) Deploy Technology-Assisted Monitoring
Use drones, communication hubs, and rapid reporting mechanisms to enhance response speed in vulnerable areas.
(4) Expand Social Intervention in Border Communities
Strengthen empowerment, education, and employment programmes to reduce youth vulnerability to criminal recruitment.
(5) Set Up a Security Advisory Council
Include retired military officers, security experts, community leaders, and scholars for periodic review and strategic guidance.
Your Excellency, this humble reminder comes from a place of goodwill, patriotism, and sincere desire to see Kano remain peaceful, prosperous, and secure under your leadership. Our people trust your wisdom, and we believe your administration will continue to protect their lives, dignity, and future.
May Allah guide you, bless your efforts, and continue to make Kano a symbol of peace and progress in Nigeria.
Respectfully,
Hamisu Lamido Iyantama.
