The Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) had successfully, concluded the first batch of the assessment of textbooks submitted for the 2026 National Book assessment and Ranking Exercise, marking a significant milestone in the Federal Government’s efforts to improve the quality of instructional materials used in Nigerian schools.

The exercise, which held between 23rd to 27th July, and conducted by panels of subject specialists, curriculum experts, language professionals, and education stakeholders, focused on textbooks for Primary 1, Primary 4, Junior Secondary School (JSS 1), and Senior Secondary School (SSS 1) in line with the phased implementation of the new national curriculum.
