In a proactive effort to ensure a safe and drug-free Kano for the upcoming Christmas and New Year celebrations, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command has successfully dislodged several notorious drug joints across Kano, yesterday 24th December 2024. Key locations targeted include the Fagge Area, Sani Abacha Stadium, Danagundi, and the historically infamous Filin Idi drug den.
The operation has led to the arrest of 34 individuals, among whom investigations will continue to identify the dealers for prosecution. Meanwhile, users will receive the necessary counseling and support to aid their recovery. During the operation, the NDLEA seized a significant quantity of illicit substances, including Cannabis sativa, suck and die, and Exol-5, among others.
In addition to the drug seizures, the operation also resulted in the recovery of dangerous arms being used by drug peddlers to pursue and attack officers. This aspect of the operation underscores the heightened risks faced by the personnel in their fight against drug trafficking and abuse.
These seizures highlight the agency’s commitment to dismantling drug networks and curbing the availability of harmful substances within the community during this festive season. Christmas and New Year celebrations should be a time of joy and togetherness, free from the scourge of drug abuse.
