In a bid to tackle unemployment and create economic opportunities for the youth of Kano State, the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has reaffirmed its commitment to transforming the state into an investment hub. The government believes it possesses the necessary resources and strategic vision to achieve this ambitious goal.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Umar Farouq Ibrahim, made this declaration while receiving the executive members of Kano Leads in his office. He emphasized the urgency of engaging the youth in productive ventures, steering them away from negative influences, and encouraging entrepreneurial and self-sustaining activities.

“An idle mind is the devil’s workshop,” Alhaji Umar Farouq Ibrahim remarked, stressing that empowering the youth with opportunities is a key strategy in fostering stability and progress.

He further noted that during past incidents of unrest, a particular group of youths was often absent from such disturbances. This, he explained, was due to their engagement in agricultural activities made possible by access to a dam in their region. This success story, he added, has prompted the government to expand similar initiatives across the state by aiming to construct more dams to support agriculture and economic activities.

The SSG highlighted the administration’s achievements since assuming office, including improved cleanliness in Kano, enhanced security, and significant progress in human capital development. He attributed these successes to the overwhelming support, cooperation, and understanding of Kano residents, reaffirming the government’s dedication to building a prosperous state where future generations will thrive without the need to seek opportunities elsewhere.

Alhaji Umar Farouq Ibrahim expressed deep appreciation to Kano Leads for their continuous engagement with the government, stating that their visits serve as an encouragement for further collaboration and innovative development strategies.

Earlier, the President of Kano Leads, Hajiya Aisha Dankani, stated that their visit was on behalf of Kano Leadership, Enlightenment, and Advocacy for Development Initiative (Kano Leads #DaRUWANA). She extended the congratulations and goodwill of the organization’s Board of Trustees Chairman, Alhaji Bashir Muhammad Dalhatu (Wazirin Dutse), and its members.

Hajiya Aisha Dankani commended the leadership qualities of Alhaji Umar Farouq Ibrahim, stating that his appointment came as no surprise to the Leads family and beyond. She further noted that the administration’s commitment to Kano’s progress has inspired thousands of individuals and organizations to offer their expertise voluntarily in sectors such as agriculture, renewable energy, and mining. She assured the government of the willingness of Kano Leads and its network of experts to contribute ideas whenever needed.

Among the delegation accompanying Hajiya Aisha Dankani were:

Alhaji Kabiru Gwangwazo

Dr. Aminu Sudawa

Alhaji Gidado Muktari

Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Umar

Nazifi Darma

Yusuf Abdullahi Usman, among others.

As a token of appreciation, the Kano Leads team presented a portrait souvenir to the SSG and offered prayers for his success in his role. They also expressed gratitude to His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, for appointing a competent and visionary leader to this critical position.
