The Kano State Multi-Agency Task Force on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking has disclosed fresh allegations against a former Chairman of Rogo Local Government, Yahuza Musa, over the alleged illegal administration and supply of Pentazocine to vulnerable individuals.
The development follows a complaint involving a 63-year-old woman, whose daughter alleged that Musa repeatedly administered Pentazocine injections to her mother without her knowledge or informed consent, allegedly leading to addiction and serious health consequences.
The Task Force said the latest complaint corroborates an earlier case involving a 25-year-old man who allegedly became severely dependent on Pentazocine after obtaining the controlled substance from an unregistered clinic reportedly operated by Musa. According to the Task Force, the young man spent about ₦6 million on injections within the first six months of 2026.
The investigation reportedly culminated in an undercover operation conducted by Task Force operatives, resulting in Musa’s arrest and subsequent arraignment. The agency said the matter is currently before a competent court, while the new complaint involving the elderly woman is being investigated alongside the ongoing prosecution.
Chairman of the Task Force, Muhuyi Magaji, described the allegations as “pathetic and inhuman,” warning that the agency would pursue anyone involved in the illicit distribution of controlled substances, regardless of political, religious, cultural or social status.
The Task Force reaffirmed its commitment to a drug-free Kano, saying it would intensify undercover operations, surveillance, public awareness and prosecution of individuals allegedly exploiting controlled substances for profit. It also urged residents with credible information on illegal drug distribution to report through official channels.
The agency said the ongoing prosecution is expected to serve as a deterrent and reinforce the government’s position that Kano State will not tolerate individuals who allegedly profit from drug abuse and the destruction of vulnerable members of society.
