The Managing director of Sabon Gari Market Management Board, Alhaji Abdul Bashir Hussien, has announced the payment of salaries and arrears of temporary workers of the Muhammadu Abubakar Rimi markets.
He explained that the temporary staff were paid, because they are the ones who handle the day-to-day operations and activities of the markets.
According to him since he assumped into office by the new administration of Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the subsequent appointment to lead the Market, they discovered that the previous government had left a backlog of Eighteen months’ salary arrears owed to the market workers.
He stated that the issue was immediately brought to the attention of His Excellency, the Governor of Kano state, who graciously approved the payment of three months’ salaries to each of the affected workers.
However, in this June salary, the workers were paid two months of arrears along with their June salary, amounting to a total of three months’ pay per worker.
Some of the beneficiaries, including Sani Ali, Adamu Hussaini, and Jamilu Abdullahi Bagwai, expressed their deep appreciation to the Kano State Government, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the Managing director of the Sabon Gari Market Alhaji Abdul Bashir Hussien, for this significant gesture.
Finally Alhaji Abdul Bashir called the Attention of all workers to remain committed and diligent in their duties, assuring them that the government remains determined to clear all outstanding arrears inherited from the
past administration.
He, cknowledged the crucial roles played by securities morning and Night, sanitation workers, and revenue collectors, whose services ensure the smooth running of market operations.
Abdul Bashir also extended his gratitude to the traders of Sabon Gari, Singa, and Galadima markets for their continuous support and cooperation with the market, and the Kano State Government at large. He prayed for the peace and prosperity of Kano State and for the continued growth of its commercial sector both nationally and globally.
