The Kano State Government has taken proactive measures to ensure the timely payment of March salaries for civil servants, enabling them to celebrate the Sallah festivities without financial concerns.
Chairman of the Payroll Standing Committee, Alhaji Auwalu Sanda, announced this while highlighting the progress of the ongoing salary validation process.
He stated that the committee has successfully verified nearly 90% of the state’s workforce, and by March 26, 2025, all civil servants are expected to be fully validated and paid. He emphasized that this initiative aims to permanently resolve salary-related issues in the state.
Alhaji Auwalu Sanda commended the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) for their cooperation throughout the exercise, noting that their support has been instrumental in ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
Addressing concerns regarding salary deductions, he clarified that only a few complaints had been received. Upon investigation, most were found to be cases where employees had taken loans from vendors or financial institutions, leading to automatic deductions. He assured that all such cases were thoroughly reviewed, with payment vouchers sent to the respective MDAs for verification before final approval.
> “With the rigorous validation process undertaken, we do not anticipate major complaints. Any issues that arise will likely be between individual civil servants and their financial institutions or due to system errors—not from the payroll itself. Nevertheless, we understand these concerns and will do everything possible to address them,” he stated.
Alhaji Auwalu Sanda urged the public, especially civil servants, to appreciate the commitment of His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, in ensuring the smooth and timely payment of salaries. He emphasized the governor’s dedication to the financial well-being of workers and his determination to prevent delays in salary disbursement.
He further called on the people of Kano to use this holy month as an opportunity to pray for the administration’s success and for the continued peace and prosperity of the state.
