FG, States Unite To Drive Skills Revolution Through New TVET Initiative

The Federal Ministry of Education has reaffirmed its commitment to repositioning technical and vocational education as the cornerstone of Nigeria’s industrial and economic transformation through the new Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Initiative.

To advance this goal, the Ministry hosted an interactive meeting of Executive Secretaries, Permanent Secretaries, and Directors of State TVET Boards and Departments at its Abuja headquarters to deliberate on implementation strategies and collaboration frameworks for the initiative.

Declaring the meeting open, the Director of Technology and Science Education, Dr. (Mrs.) Adenike Olodo, urged stakeholders to drive a “skills revolution” that would make TVET the engine of Nigeria’s industrial growth. She described the initiative as a transformative agenda aligning education with 21st-century economic realities.

Dr. Olodo emphasized that the success of the initiative depends on active state participation, noting that TVET is the bridge to employment, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance.

The meeting, with representatives from 22 States, outlined the TVET framework, clarified roles, and explored strategies for implementation and evaluation.

The Ministry reiterated its commitment to partnering with States, private sector actors, and development agencies to strengthen the TVET system, build a skilled workforce, and drive national competitiveness and sustainable development.
