Kano State has distanced itself from a controversial press statement currently circulating online on “Kano Durbar festivities,” describing it as fake and misleading.
The State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, made this known in a strongly worded disclaimer issued to the public.
“My attention has been drawn to the press statement credited to me. This is to inform the general public that, the statement neither originates from my office, nor issued on behalf of the Kano State Government”
According to him, the statement being attributed to his office did not originate from the ministry and was never authorized by the Kano State Government.
“The statement did not emanate from my office or any Government related affiliated parastatal” Said Waiya
He stressed that the content is a deliberate attempt by mischief-makers to deceive the public and stir unnecessary confusion.
The Commissioner further revealed that the matter has been reported to relevant security agencies, with a directive to investigate and identify those behind the act. He warned that such irresponsible actions threaten public trust and stability, assuring that those responsible will be brought to justice.
He emphasized that the forged statement is part of a calculated effort to mislead the public and create unnecessary tension. The government reiterated its commitment to transparency and accurate information dissemination.
According to Him, Authorities have since alerted security agencies to track down those responsible, while urging residents to verify information from credible official channels.
