Operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) have reportedly arrested the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Kingsley Obiora over allegations of financial mismanagement under Godwin Emefiele, the suspended CBN governor.
Obiora is the Deputy Governor of the apex bank in charge of economic policy.
According to The Daily Post, Obiora’s arrest comes on the heels of an ongoing probe of CBN under the stewardship of Emefiele.
It will be recalled that Emefiele has been in the custody of the DSS since June 10, 2023, a day after President Bola Tinubu removed him from office.
In July, Tinubu appointed a special investigator, Jim Obazee, to oversee the probe of the activities of the apex bank under Emefiele.
As of press time, the DSS and CBN spokespersons, Dr Peter Afunanya and Dr Isa Abdulmumin, respectively were yet to react to the development.
