Participants at the ongoing 25th Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) training programme in Kano have commended the organisers for the exceptional hospitality, care, professionalism and high-quality training provided throughout the two-week capacity-building workshop.

The participants, who are senior civil servants on Grade Levels 13 and 14, described the programme as one of the most impactful professional development initiatives they have attended. They praised ASCON for assembling seasoned facilitators and experienced resource persons whose practical knowledge has significantly enhanced their administrative and leadership competencies.

The workshop, being held at the State Library Conference Hall in Kano, is designed to strengthen participants’ skills in public administration, leadership, and effective government service delivery. Attendees also applauded the calm, supportive and professional manner in which ASCON officials have managed the programme, saying it created an enabling environment for learning.

Speaking on behalf of the Director-General of ASCON, Mrs. A.O. Olabimitan, Deputy Director of the Training Department, commended the participants for their discipline, commitment and active engagement throughout the training. She noted that their dedication and enthusiasm reflected their readiness to acquire new knowledge and contribute more effectively to the public service.

Earlier, the Head of the Kano State Civil Service, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Mai-Mota, explained that the training was organised to build a corps of competent, ethical and accountable civil servants. She also praised Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his unwavering commitment to human capital development through continuous staff training, retraining and the recruitment of qualified professionals to strengthen the state’s public service.

Delivering the keynote address, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, represented by the Secretary to the Kano State Government, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustained investment in capacity building. He said the government would continue to support initiatives that improve workforce competence, strengthen public institutions and enhance efficient service delivery, stressing that a productive civil service remains central to Kano State’s socio-economic development.

One of the participants, Musa Ibrahim Ahmad (Best Seller), expressed profound appreciation to the ASCON organising committee for selecting highly experienced facilitators who delivered practical and insightful lectures throughout the programme. He also thanked Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for restoring the opportunity for civil servants to benefit from such impactful training, describing it as a major boost to professionalism in the state’s civil service.

Musa Bestseller further commended Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Mai-Mota for her exemplary leadership and steadfast commitment to ensuring the successful organisation of the workshop.

Another participant, Hajiya Hassana Aliyu, also applauded Mrs. A.O. Olabimitan for her patience, dedication and determination to ensure every participant fully understood each aspect of the training. She remarked that the organisers had exceeded expectations, saying the Hausa proverb, “Kwalliya ta biya kuɗin sabulu”—meaning the effort was truly worthwhile—perfectly captured the success of the programme. She concluded by praying for continued success for the Kano State Government and its civil service leadership.
