The leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Shahuci Ward, Kano Municipal Local Government Area, has reaffirmed its decision to expel Hajiya Naja’atu Muhammad from the party, maintaining that the resolution duly adopted by the Ward Executive Committee remains valid, binding, and in full force.
The Ward leadership stated that, following her expulsion, Hajiya Naja’atu Muhammad should immediately cease presenting or parading herself as a leader, member, or representative of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in any official party capacity. It warned that any continued attempt to represent or speak on behalf of the party despite the Ward’s decision would leave the party with no option but to pursue appropriate legal remedies before a court of competent jurisdiction.
The Ward leadership further dismissed recent claims alleging that the legitimate leadership structures of the party in Kano State had been dissolved, describing such assertions as false, misleading, and entirely without constitutional or legal foundation. It emphasized that only the constitutionally empowered organs of the party possess the authority to make decisions relating to the leadership and organizational structure of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The statement also maintained that any purported declaration concerning Alhaji Ibrahim Ali Amin, popularly known as “Little,” the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Kano State, did not comply with the constitutional procedures prescribed by the party. Consequently, the Ward leadership insisted that such a declaration has no legal validity, effect, or recognition under the constitution of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The Ward leadership reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the constitution of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), internal discipline, party unity, due process, and the rule of law. It called on party members, supporters, stakeholders, and the general public to recognize only the constitutionally constituted leadership of the party and to disregard any statements, directives, or actions that do not emanate from the legitimate structures of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Speaking on behalf of the Ward Executive Committee, one of the party leaders said:
“Our concern is not about personalities but about upholding the constitution of the party and respecting its legitimate leadership. Every member is expected to conduct themselves in accordance with the rules, principles, and procedures of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). We therefore call on Hajiya Naja’atu Muhammad to refrain from actions or statements capable of creating confusion or division within the party. Should she continue to present herself as a representative or leader of the party despite the Ward’s decision, the party will have no alternative but to seek appropriate legal remedies before a court of competent jurisdiction. Furthermore, the Ward believes Hajiya Naja’atu Muhammad has no demonstrable political value beyond media commentary and public statements.
According to the Ward, if she truly possessed any significant political influence, it would have been reflected during the last general election, beginning from the polling unit where she cast her vote for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, let alone at the ward, local government, or state level. The Ward therefore maintains that she lacks the mandate to speak or act on behalf of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kano State.”
