The Yobe State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA which Leads Response team to the area says the blaze claimed the lives of four members of the family of Mallam Bukar: his wife and their three children, noting the surviving household members of the family are now left homeless. The deceased has been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
SEMA adds it is working closely with representatives of the Karasuwa Local Government Authority and community stakeholders.
It notes the team has conducted a thorough on-site evaluation, documenting the total losses and engaged with the bereaved family and other residents to assess their immediate needs and psychosocial condition.
Yobe SEMA further appeals for collective efforts to prevent the recurrence of such tragic incidents across communities in the state.
