The Kano State Government is doubling down on its promise to bring order to land administration while making homeownership more accessible for everyone. They’re currently rolling out land allocation documents and Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) throughout the state.
This commitment was highlighted as the Kano State Ministry of Land and Physical Planning wrapped up the second day of its land allocation and title distribution program. This initiative is part of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s pledge to ensure that citizens have secure and legally recognized land ownership.
During the ceremony, Hon. Abduljabbar Muhammad Umar, the Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, emphasized that this effort is a crucial move toward tackling the housing shortage, reducing illegal land speculation, and fostering organized urban development across Kano State.
He noted that on the first day of the program, over 500 beneficiaries—including Senior Special Reporters (SSRs), Special Reporters (SRs), Senior Special Assistants (SSAs), Special Assistants (SAs), and Personal Assistants (PAs) from the current administration—received their land allocation documents.
The second phase of the program was dedicated to honoring the administration’s community polling agents, affectionately known as ‘Yan Akwatin Abba Gida-Gida, for their hard work and contributions to the electoral success of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
“Today, we’re fulfilling another key promise by handing out land allocation documents to our dedicated polling agents, whose tireless efforts were instrumental in the success of this administration. This clearly shows that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is a leader who stands by his word and values those who supported him,” Abduljabbar remarked.
He went on to explain that all the allocated plots are located within government-approved layouts designed to promote orderly development.
