Dr Aminu Magashi Garba donates relief materials to Bichi Female Rehabilitation Centre Inmates After Rainstorm Destruction

Dr Aminu Magashi Garba accompanied by the Kano State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), under the leadership of its Executive Secretary, Alhaji Isyaku Abdullahi Kubarachi, visited the Bichi Female Rehabilitation Centre on Sunday 26th July 2026.

This followed the destruction caused by the heavy rainstorm that occurred a few days back. He used the opportunity to interact with the staff, female inmates and donated relief materials; blankets, drugs and food items.
During the visit, he observed that the heavy rainfall had blown off the roofs of several female rooms and some sections of the perimeter fence had collapsed, posing serious safety and security concerns.

Dr Aminu Magashi Garba has commended the leadership of the Kano State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), under the leadership of its Executive Secretary, Alhaji Isyaku Abdullahi Kubarachi for the decision to temporarily relocate all inmates from the Bichi Female Rehabilitation Centre to a dedicated and secured space and room at the Bichi Male Rehabilitation Centre. The decision according to SEMA was taken to ensure the safety, security, and welfare of the inmates while repairs and rehabilitation of the damaged facility are carried out.

Dr Aminu Magashi Garba who is the Technical Adviser to the Kano State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation has committed to support the Kano State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Ministry to convene a strategic stakeholders meeting to discuss this development as well as review emergency response approaches with a view to mobilise more resources form government, NGOs and development partners to SEMA in managing the 13 rehabilitation centres under its supervision.

Dr Aminu Magashi Garba has in the recent past visited 6 of the 13 SEMA 13 rehabilitation centres where he donated drugs and food items to the inmates and supported a one-day training to all the health workers assigned to the 13 centres. He also thanked the Executive Governor of Kano State His Excellency, Engr Abba Kabir Yusuf for appointing him to serve as the Technical Adviser to the Kano State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation
