One Kano Agenda warmly commends the establishment of the Forum of Retired Security Personnel and Senior Civil Servants in Kano State, aimed at complementing the efforts of existing security agencies in safeguarding lives and property across the state. This initiative comes at a critical time when the need for collective action, intelligence sharing, and community based security solutions has become more important than ever.

We believe that the coming together of highly experienced retired military officers, police personnel, DSS operatives, paramilitary officers, and seasoned civil servants represents a major boost to the security architecture of Kano State. Their years of experience, institutional knowledge, strategic understanding, and grassroots connections will greatly support ongoing efforts to maintain peace, stability, and social harmony in our dear state.

Kano has historically remained the commercial and cultural heartbeat of Northern Nigeria. Preserving peace in Kano is not only important to its residents but also to the economic and social stability of the entire region. The decision by these distinguished elders and patriots to voluntarily contribute their expertise toward strengthening security coordination and community engagement is highly commendable and patriotic.

While applauding this laudable initiative, One Kano Agenda respectfully makes the following recommendations to the newly established forum:

The forum should prioritize community engagement and grassroots sensitization to build public trust and encourage citizen participation in security matters.
It should work closely with traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, civil society organizations, and community associations to develop sustainable local security solutions.
The forum should establish a professional and non-partisan operational structure focused solely on the collective interest of Kano State and its people.
There should be periodic security dialogues and stakeholder consultations to assess emerging threats and propose practical policy recommendations to government authorities.
The forum should pay special attention to youth empowerment, mentorship, and deradicalization programs to address the root causes of insecurity.
Collaboration with security agencies must remain within the framework of the law, respect for human rights, and the protection of civil liberties.

One Kano Agenda reiterates its support for every genuine effort aimed at protecting the lives, dignity, and prosperity of the people of Kano State. We call on all well meaning citizens, community leaders, and stakeholders to support this noble initiative in the collective interest of peace, development, and stability.
Kano belongs to all of us, and securing it is a shared responsibility.
