The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kano State Council, has commended the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, for his dedication to advancing journalism in the state.
The Chairman of the NUJ Kano State Council, Comrade Sulaiman Abdullahi Dederi, praised the Commissioner for his commitment to improving journalism through the establishment of the Kano Information Advisory Council and the upcoming launch of the Kano Press Support Fund.
These initiatives are aimed at enhancing the professionalism and welfare of journalists in the state.
The seven members of the Kano Information Advisory Council are:
1. Alhaji Ahmed Aminu – Chairman
2. Alhaji Mohammed Danyaro
3. Alhaji Farouk Umar Usman
4. Hajiya Aisha Sule
5. Mallam Auwalu Mu’azu
6. Alhaji Bello Sani Galadanchi
7. Comrade Sulaiman Abdullahi Dederi – Secretary
Further demonstrating its commitment to fostering a strong and collaborative relationship with the media, Hon. Ibrahim Waiya announced the upcoming launch of the Kano Press Support Fund. This initiative underscores the government’s dedication to supporting the vital role of journalists in the state.
Additionally, the Iftar (fast-breaking) event, organized by the Honourable Commissioner for Information in collaboration with the NUJ Council, brought together veterans, stakeholders, and journalists in Kano. This event marked a historic milestone in the council’s history.
