The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to prioritising educational development, describing it as a critical driver of sustainable growth in the state.

The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, made this known on Wednesday while briefing journalists in his office. He stressed the pivotal role of education in nation-building and socio-economic advancement.

According to him, the meeting is focused on two cardinal points, the first agenda centered on building stronger synergy between his Ministry and Public Relations units of tertiary institutions to ensure coordinated, accurate, and timely dissemination of government policies and programmes, while the second agenda focused on briefing the general public on the achievements of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in the tertiary education sector.

Waiya noted that the present administration has recorded significant progress in revitalising higher education across the state, this has been achieved through the renovation and construction of academic facilities, improvement of learning environments, provision of instructional materials, and the implementation of staff training and development programmes in all state-owned tertiary institutions.

He added that the government’s renewed focus on academic standards underscores its broader commitment to repositioning state-owned institutions to meet global educational standards and emerging demands.

The Commissioner also called for stronger collaboration between the ministry and the Forum of Public Relations Officers of state-owned tertiary institutions to enhance public awareness of government policies and achievements in the education sector. He emphasised the need for accurate and consistent dissemination of information regarding government programmes and projects.

“This initiative provides a platform to engage with the Public Relations Officers of state-owned tertiary institutions and offers an opportunity to brief communication officers on the achievements recorded under the administration of Abba Kabir Yusuf in the tertiary education sector,” he said.
Waiya urged Public Relations Officers to adopt a proactive and professional approach in projecting the administration’s accomplishments, noting that effective communication remains vital in keeping citizens well informed about government interventions.
