The spokesman of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, has clarified that the sexual harassment allegation by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan against Senate President Godswill Akpabio has not been officially brought before the Senate.
Senator Adaramodu (APC, Ekiti South), speaking on Arise TV’s Morning Show on Monday, stated that the only case before the Senate is that of Akpoti-Uduaghan not complying with Senate rules.
He also disclosed that Akpoti-Uduaghan is to face the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions, maintaining that the issue regarding non-compliance with Senate rules is an internal matter.
βThe only matter before the Senate is between Senator Natasha and the rest of the senators: that she is not complying with the standing orders of the Senate. No other issues.
βIf anything comes up tomorrow regarding any senator in the National Assembly, the Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions Committee will review it once it is referred to them. It will be treated as an internal affair,β Adaramodu explained.
