GARBA DISO SPEAKS: HIS FRENCH LANGUAGE BILL AND WHAT THE RECORDS SHOW
Following an interview between Alfijir News and Hon. Garba Ibrahim Muhammad Garba Diso as part of its ongoing investigation into his representation of Gwale Federal Constituency, the lawmaker provided information about some of his activities in the House of Representatives.

COMPULSORY TEACHING OF FRENCH LANGUAGE BILL, 2023
Garba Diso mentioned the:
“Compulsory Teaching of French Language in Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria Bill, 2023” — HB.977.
The House of Representatives’ Votes and Proceedings for Thursday, 23 November 2023, records the bill among those presented and read for the First Time.
The bill concerns the proposed teaching of French at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels of education in Nigeria.
During his interview with Alfijir News, Garba Diso stated that the bill had proceeded to Second Reading.
However, the legislative record currently reviewed by Alfijir News confirms the First Reading. We will therefore not present the Second Reading as an independently verified fact until a further legislative record confirming that stage is obtained.

During the interview, Garba Diso provided Alfijir News with a list of bills and motions which he identified as part of his legislative activities in the 10th National Assembly.
This edition focuses on the French Language Bill.
