The Kano State Fire Service has reported two separate fire incidents at Dan Agundi in Kano Municipal Local Government Area and Kwakwaci in Fagge Local Government Area.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, by the Serviceโs Public Relations Officer, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the incidents occurred on Monday, September 7, and Tuesday, September 8, 2026, respectively.
The first incident occurred at a power transmission plant in Dan Agundi, where the Fire Service received a distress call from one Abdullahi Sani at about 9:52 a.m.
Firefighters from the Kano State Fire Service Headquarters were immediately deployed to the scene and found an open area measuring approximately 200 by 100 feet engulfed in flames.
The fire affected one electric transformer at the facility. However, the firefighters quickly brought the situation under control before the flames could spread further.
Two fire jets from Commando 1 and Commando 1B were deployed during the operation.
The second incident occurred at NUTAK Universal Company Ltd., located at Kwakwaci by Bola in Fagge Local Government Area. The Fire Service received the distress call at about 9:05 a.m. from one of its staff members, Sabo Wada Abdullahi.
Men from the Central and Bompai Fire Stations were immediately mobilised to the scene, where they found a ground-floor building measuring approximately 50 by 100 feet engulfed in flames.
The fire affected a toilet, 25 drums of chemicals, 600 pieces of four-litre paint containers, 10 production machines and three underground paint storage facilities, which were completely engulfed by the flames. One store was also slightly affected.
Two people were affected by the incident before the arrival of the firefighters but were successfully rescued alive.
The causes of both fire incidents are currently under investigation.
The Kano State Fire Service urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report fire outbreaks and other emergencies to the Service.
It also advised members of the public to observe necessary fire-safety precautions, particularly in industrial facilities and locations where flammable materials are stored or used.
