The Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KCPC) has successfully seized approximately 419 cartons of agricultural chemicals whose expiry dates had elapsed at a location along Club Road in Kano metropolis.
The operation followed credible intelligence received by the Council indicating that the expired chemicals had been stockpiled at the location, with an alleged attempt to alter their condition and reintroduce them into the market.
During the operation, officials of the Council successfully recovered the products and sealed the premises where the chemicals were being stored, pending the completion of investigations and the commencement of appropriate legal action.
Speaking on the development, the Executive Secretary of the Council, Dr. Ibrahim Garba Muhammad, said the operation was part of the Council’s ongoing efforts to prevent the circulation of adulterated, expired and unsafe products in Kano State and to protect the health and safety of consumers.
Dr. Ibrahim Garba Muhammad further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide the Council with any information that could assist in identifying and combating the circulation of adulterated and unsafe products across the state.
He also commended and appreciated the Kano State Government, under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, for its continued support to the Council in enabling it to effectively discharge its responsibilities without fear or favour.
The Executive Secretary called on members of the public, particularly traders, companies and individuals, to continue to contact the Council through its designated communication channels whenever they encounter or suspect any product that may be unsafe or unsuitable for everyday use.
