The Kano State Government has declared Tuesday, 1st September 2026, corresponding to 19th Rabi’ul Awwal 1448AH, as a work-free day to commemorate the Takutaha celebration, marking the birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The declaration is in recognition of the significance of the occasion and the need to enable workers and residents of the state to participate in the celebration and reflect on the exemplary life and teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The Head of Service, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, urged civil servants across the state to utilize the holiday meaningfully by reflecting on and putting into practice the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW), particularly his virtues of honesty, patience, kindness, justice, peaceful coexistence and service to humanity.
Maimota called on workers to continue to demonstrate professionalism, dedication and good character in the discharge of their official responsibilities, in line with the values and principles of the Kano State Civil Service.
The Head of Service further prayed for a peaceful, successful and blessed Takutaha celebration, while wishing the people of Kano State a joyous occasion.
