The Kano State APC Students Stakeholders Forum has declared its total support for the administration of Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The declaration was made on Friday during a courtesy visit by members of the Forum to the Kano State Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, in his office.

Speaking during the visit, the Chairman of the Forum, Comrade Abdulrahman Bala, said the decision to support the Governor was unanimous and was informed by the numerous development -oriented projects being executed by the administration.

Comrade Bala noted that the education sector in Kano has received unprecedented attention under Governor Abba, from basic to tertiary levels.

He added that Kano students have no alternative but to rally behind the Governor to enable him to continue with the good work he has started.

He further disclosed that the Forum will soon embark on a media tour across the 44 Local Government areas of the State to compile and document projects executed by the administration, as well as to sensitize the public on the achievements recorded so far.

The Chairman also appealed to the Government to initiate more empowerment programmes for youth to enable them to become more productive and self-reliant.

In his response, the Commissioner, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, commended the students for their wise decision to support the Governor’s second term bid, describing it as a demonstration of their love for the progress of Kano State.

He pledged the Ministry’s commitment to work closely with the Forum, especially on matters relating to students’ education, which he said remains a cardinal agenda of the Abba Kabir’s  administration.

Comrade Waiya dismissed allegations by critics that the government is not concerned about students’ welfare studying
at the State tertiary institutions, describing the claims as baseless, and misleading

He highlighted that the administration’s commitment to education is evident in the 29.4% budgetary allocation to the sector, alone as well as the declaration of the State of Emergency, as well as other numerous special interventions support to education sector in the State

Other interventions, according to him, include: Subsidization of school fees for students in the State; Payment of millions of Naira as NECO, WAEC and NBAIS examination fees for students,  sponsorship of Kano students for studies abroad, a programme that is still ongoing and massive construction and renovation of schools to provide a conducive learning environment for both students and teachers

“This government has initiated several education policies to ease the burden on students and parents. Kano students are still being sponsored abroad and have been benefiting from the programme. There has been no reversal,” the Commissioner stated.

He further urged the students to remain honest, patriotic, and good ambassadors of Kano State wherever they find themselves, and assured them of the Government’s continued support.
