Gov. Yusuf Commends Gaya Polytechnic Implementation Committee, Hints On Possible Commencement Of Academic Activities

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reviewed the progress of the Gaya Polytechnic project, reaffirming his administration’s determination to ensure the institution becomes fully operational and commences academic activities within the current academic session.

The Governor made the commitment when he received the Chairman of the Gaya Polytechnic Implementation Committee, Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa, alongside the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Ali Haruna Makoda, and the Secretary of the Implementation Committee Shehu Sani Shehu at the Governor’s Office.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the Implementation Committee to brief the Governor on the progress so far recorded, achievements, major milestones, challenges and measures being taken to keep the project on course.

Presenting the committee’s report, Professor Kurawa took the Governor through the journey of the committee’s work, highlighting the major steps taken, progress achieved, challenges encountered and measures being implemented to ensure that the project remains on course.

Governor Yusuf commended Professor Kurawa for his dedication, commitment and determination in steering the assignment, while also appreciating the entire committee for its hard work and progress so far recorded.

The Governor expressed confidence in the committee’s ability to deliver on the remaining tasks and reaffirmed his administration commitment to providing the necessary support to ensure the completion of all outstanding components of the project.

The Governor further stressed that the ultimate objective is to ensure that Gaya Polytechnic becomes fully functional and commences academic activities within the current academic session, describing the institution as an important investment in technical Educations, skills development and human capital in the state.

In his second remark, Chairman of the Implementation Committee, Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa, assured the Governor that the committee would remain fully committed to the assignment and continue working diligently and tirelessly until Gaya Polytechnic achieves its full potential and becomes a successful, functional institution.

He expressed confidence that, with the continued support of the state government, the committee would accomplish the task entrusted to it and ensure that the vision behind the establishment of the Polytechnic is realised.

The meeting marks another significant step in the collective effort to establish a functional and sustainable Polytechnic that will expand access to quality technical and vocational education and provide young people with practical skills needed to contribute meaningfully to the development of Kano State.

With the government commitment and the committee’s renewed assurance, the focus now shifts to completing the remaining tasks and opening the doors of Gaya Polytechnic to students.
