The Kano State Police Command has provided an update on the investigation and prosecution of suspects linked to the violent attack at the Farm Centre GSM Market in Kano on April 28, 2026.
According to the Command, operatives conducting discreet, intelligence-led investigations arrested two additional suspects connected to the incident. The suspects were identified as Sadiq Ayuba, 18, of Darmanawa Quarters, Kano, and Abdulganiyu Abba, 38, of Mariri Quarters, Kano.
Police said that during interrogation, Sadiq Ayuba confessed that he and several others were allegedly mobilized and paid by one Mallam Hassan, who is currently at large, to attack the Farm Centre GSM Market and the entourage of AA Zaura.
The attack reportedly resulted in the destruction of businesses and properties, as well as damage to a Toyota ambulance vehicle belonging to the entourage and a tricycle owned by one Shamsuddeen Sani.
With the latest arrests, the total number of suspects apprehended in connection with the incident has risen to seven.
The Police Command disclosed that all seven suspects were arraigned on Tuesday, May 13, 2026, before Magistrate Court Number 2, Nomansland, Kano. They are facing charges bordering on criminal conspiracy, inciting disturbance, unlawful assembly, possession of deadly weapons, and mischief.
The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tracking down and prosecuting all individuals and sponsors linked to violent thuggery and public disturbances in the state.
He also confirmed that efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing principal suspect, Mallam Hassan.
CP Bakori commended members of the public for providing credible information that aided the investigation and urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely intelligence to help maintain peace and security across Kano State.
The Command reiterated its resolve to uphold law and order and ensure that all perpetrators of violence face justice.
