Kano Facebook Connect has held its 4th annual conference in Kano State, emphasizing the importance of using social media particularly Facebook in a responsible, productive, and ethical manner.
During the event, participants were urged to be mindful of the content they share online and to avoid spreading unverified information or posts that could mislead or create confusion within society.
The association also encouraged attendees to think creatively and strategically about how to leverage Facebook for business growth and income generation.
In his remarks as the Special Guest, Kano State Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, highlighted the importance of responsible communication in today’s digital age.
The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs described the gathering as a commendable initiative, noting that it successfully brought together young people from diverse backgrounds across Kano State. He emphasized that such unity creates a valuable platform for collaboration, learning, and growth, particularly in the rapidly evolving space of social media.
He urged the participants to make the most of the opportunity presented by the event, encouraging them to focus on building a better future for themselves through their activities on digital platforms. According to him, social media should not just be a tool for entertainment, but a space for innovation, productivity, and positive impact.
He challenged them to reflect deeply on what new ideas, skills, or ventures they could develop immediately after the Facebook Connect gathering ideas that would contribute meaningfully to their personal growth and long-term success.
He commended the association for its efforts in promoting awareness about the proper use of Facebook.
Speaking, a human right lawyer, Barrister Abba Hikima Fagge called on young people to use social media platforms wisely and responsibly.
He stressed that such platforms have significant influence and can either contribute positively to societal development or cause harm if misused
The conference attracted activists and entrepreneurs who utilize Facebook for business purposes from different parts of the country. Participants engaged in discussions and shared ideas on how to enhance communication and business activities through the platform.
