Your Excellency, Sir,
II extend my respectful greetings to your Excellency and commend the ongoing efforts of your administration toward improving governance, service delivery, and the general well-being of the good people of our dear state Kano. Your initiatives in various sectors have brought renewed hope, and I pray for Allah’s guidance, protection, and continued success for you in the discharge of your responsibilities.
Your Excellency let me recognize the fact that regarding the above subject matter you are doing much better than your immediate predecessors, to the extent that there is even no room for comparison. Your Excellency, I had to shed tears of excitement when the orphan left behind by my intimate friend received their gratuity payment few months back after suffering for almost nine years patiently waiting for it. I knew how these orphans and their mother suffered despite all the effort of their family members and friends. That is why I bear witness on the effort of your administration to settle these outstanding gratuities.
Nevertheless, sir, I humbly write to draw your compassionate attention to the yet long outstanding gratuities owed to thousands of retired public servants across the state. Many of these retirees served the government with loyalty, dedication and integrity for decades. For a significant number of them, these gratuities represent not only rightful entitlement, but also their primary means of sustaining themselves and their families in retirement.
Is disheartening, Your Excellency, that a considerable number of these retirees are facing severe hardship due to the prolonged delay in receiving their entitlements. Some are contending with health challenges. Some struggle with basic living costs and regrettably, others have passed away without enjoying the fruit of their long years of public service.
Your Excellency, while I sincerely commend your Administration’s remarkable commitment towards settling the long-awaited gratuities debt, I humbly appeal for an intensified effort that will completely wipe out the remaining gratuity debt burden for the following reasons:
i. Your Excellency, bringing an end to the entire gratuity debt burden will stand as a clear expression of your profound (gratitude) to Almighty Allah, who in His infinite wisdom safeguarded your MANDATE despite the challenges that took your case up to the Supreme Court. Your Excellency Sir, permit me to remind you the moment of profound joy and relief that filled your heart when the Supreme Court delivered its final verdict affirming your Governorship mandate. However, Your Excellency, the pensioners of Kano State are anxiously awaiting a moment of similar relief and joy – one that by the will of the Almighty Allah can be realized through the mandate entrusted to you.
ii. Your Excellency, fulfilling this obligation will certainly restore the confidence of citizens in government institutions.
iii. It will directly alleviate the suffering of elderly retirees and generally enhance the microeconomic activities which will in turn make positive impact on the overall macroeconomic stability and growth of the state.
iv. It will strengthen the legacy of your Administration as one that promotes the welfare of its senior citizens, which interestingly reflects the values of equity, service, and responsibility.
v. Your Excellency, Expert Evaluation has revealed that only sic percent (6%) of your forthcoming budget is enough to wipe out the states entire gratuity debt burden.
vi. Your Excellency, I once listened to an interview with a prominent businessman who revealed that he had at a point in his life, been overwhelmed by debts. He sought guidance from a respected scholar who advised him to make every effort to clear all his outstanding obligations so that the blessing (Barakah) of Almighty Allah could manifest in his wealth. He acted on this advice and witnessed remarkable improvement.
In the same spirit, settling the long-standing gratuity debts of our retirees may attract divine blessings to the resources and prosperity our dear state.
vii. Your Excellency, permit me once again to remind you the vital opportunity presented to you by your mandate: that is the ability and opportunity to write your Name in the hearts of thousands and get your name written on a Golden place in the History of our Dear State.

I respectively request your Excellency to consider this appeal with your well-known sense of compassion, fairness and commitment to Social Justice.
