BREAKING: Kano Fire Service Rescues Elderly Woman Who Fell Into Well in Kumbotso

The Kano State Fire Service has rescued a 65-year-old woman who fell into a well in Gafiyawa town, near the Mamuda Group of Company in Kumbotso Local Government Area.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, 26 November 2025, after the Emergency Response Unit at the Agency Headquarters received a distress call from one Ibrahim Sani Hausawa, alerting them to the situation.

According to the public relations officer, headed by
Saminu Yusif Abdullahi
said the officers were immediately mobilised to the scene and upon arrival, they discovered that the victim, identified as Khadija Muhammad, had fallen into the well. Relatives told rescue officials that the woman is mentally challenged.

Through what the agency described as divine intervention and the swift response of its rescue team, the woman was successfully retrieved alive and handed over to her brother, Malam Ibrahim Dahiru.

The Director of the Agency reiterated the need for residents and property owners to secure wells within their premises by raising their heights and installing metal covers. He said such preventive measures are essential to avert accidents involving both people and animals.
