The leadership of the house of representatives has presented a cheque of N705 million to President Bola Tinubu to support his programme for vulnerable Nigerians.
The cheque was presented to Tinubu on Monday by Tajuddeen Abass, speaker of the house, who led a delegation of the lower legislative chamber to partake in iftar with the president at Aso Rock.
Vice-President Kashim Shettima, and Femi Gbajabiamila, chief of staff to the president, attended the event.
In July 2024, members of the house of representatives resolved to slash their salaries by 50 percent for six months due to the pervasive economic hardship across the country.
The house reached the resolution following the adoption of a motion moved by Benjamin Kalu, the deputy speaker.
