Fire engulfed the premises of Radio Nigeria, Ikoyi

The fire, which started around 5:30 p.m., engulfed the studio section of the one-storey building.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority confirmed the incident via its official X account, warning commuters to avoid the area as emergency teams battled the inferno.

It posted, “Ikoyi Fire Accident. Radio Nigeria is on fire while fire fighters are already on the ground to put out the fire.

According to a statement by Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the agency was alerted at approximately 5:30 PM. Firefighters from the Dolphin, Ebute Elefun, and Oba Onitolo Fire Stations arrived promptly to combat the flames, which had engulfed the studio section of the building.

Adeseye noted: β€œThe public is assured that collaborative efforts with the Federal Fire Service and other emergency responders, including the Nigerian Police, have brought the situation under control, confining the fire to the studio section of the U-shaped one-story building where it started. While the cause of the fire is yet unknown and no casualties have been reported, damping down of the fire embers continues.”

“Meanwhile all the roads have been blocked for motorists to go through alternative routes.”
Firefighters from Dolphin, Ebute Elefun, and Oba Oniru Fire Stations were first on the scene, supported by the Federal Fire Service, the Nigeria Police Force, and other emergency responders.
